Type O Negative @ Rockwave Festival in Athens, Greece (Sun 1 July 2007)

Type O Negative performed at the 2007 Rockwave Festival at Terra Vibe Park in Malakása, near Athens, Greece.
In 2007, Type O Negative's band members were Peter Steele (lead vocals, bass, keyboards, guitar), Kenny Hickey (guitar, backing and co-lead vocals), Josh Silver (keyboards, backing vocals), and Johnny Kelly (drums, percussion). They were promoting their album, "Dead Again," which was released that year.

Peter Steele was an American musician, best known as the lead vocalist, bassist, and primary composer for the gothic metal band Type O Negative. He was born Peter Thomas Ratajczyk on January 4, 1962, and passed away on April 14, 2010, at the age of 48. Before Type O Negative, he formed and played in the bands Fallout and Carnivore.
Early Life and Musical Beginnings:
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Steele was the youngest of six children.
He started playing guitar at age 12 and switched to bass guitar shortly after, reportedly due to band pressure and the unavailability of a left-handed bass at the time, according to a music blog.
He formed his first substantial band, Fallout, while in high school.
Fallout played a mix of punk and metal, recording a few demos.
After Fallout's breakup, he formed the thrash metal band Carnivore.
Type O Negative:
Steele formed Type O Negative in 1989 with childhood friends Sal Abruscato, Josh Silver, and Kenny Hickey.
The band initially went by the names Repulsion and Sub-Zero before settling on Type O Negative.
They signed with Roadrunner Records in 1991 and released their debut album, Slow, Deep and Hard, shortly after.
Type O Negative released seven studio albums, two best-of compilations, and two concert DVDs.
The band was known for its gothic metal sound, incorporating elements of doom metal, gothic rock, and alternative rock.
Steele's distinctive baritone vocals and songwriting were central to the band's identity.
Beyond Music:
Steele was known for his imposing physical presence (6'7") and his quick wit and sense of humor.
He was a passionate fan of the New York Rangers hockey team.
He was also an animal lover, particularly of cats, and advocated for animal rights.
Steele's personal struggles with addiction and mental health were reflected in his music.
He passed away on April 14, 2010, from sepsis caused by diverticulitis.
Type O Negative disbanded following his death.
